I believe it is time to take a close look at the record of the NDP from the '90s.
As a small business owner in the forest sector at that time our workforce was curtailed by NDP policies.
Glen Clark said they were going to create forest jobs. With his efforts, B.C. lost 20,000 jobs. Not a good track record for an NDP government that now wants to invest your money into the forest industry. They raised the stumpage so high that all the added value mills except one closed down in Prince George.
When the fast ferries board of directors questioned the costs of the fast ferries, the NDP government fired the board and appointed their friends to cover up the overruns and mismanagement.
The NDP virtually destroyed mining exploration. This was the results of the NDP government deciding to turn an area into a park where a mining company had announced they were going to start a mine. There had been years of work put into this mining venture and tens of millions of dollars invested just to be shut down by a clueless government.
Our local NDP candidate questioned why the present government hadn't finished the 500 km twinning of the Cariboo Connector. Is he saying the NDP would have had it completed. The last time the NDP was in power they abandoned infastructure in our province in favour of social programs.
When the NDP was in power I had an idea to create jobs in the forest sector by implementing a salvage program. For five years I battled with the government to implement such a program.
I finally ended up dealing with the Premier's office and that was just a joke. This lead me to the conclusion that the NDP has no people with any business sense and they certainly don't listen to people that have.
When the NDP was in power 57 major companies moved their head offices to Alberta. Just think how their tax money could help pay for schools and hospitals. I would like to see everyone that knows what the issues are get out and vote. And as a business person I would strongly suggest that you use some good old ordinary common sense when you vote.
