I realize you are likely receiving a number of comments on the road conditions this winter, but I wanted to submit my thoughts in case they are useful.
The snow removal this year, or lack thereof, has been extremely dangerous and surprising. As a relative newcomer to Prince George (three years ago), I was warned by many people at home (southern B.C.) that P.G. was a terrible place to live. I always defended this city to the nay sayers, but I have now been proven wrong. The last two winters were manageable but the unplowed roads this year are treacherous to people's health and their vehicles.
I was considering staying in Prince George and buying a home here after graduation this spring, but because of the lack of basic safety on the city's roads, I will not be staying long term. I'm sure many students would say the same.
The city of Prince George supposedly wants to encourage tourism and newcomers, but they are doing exactly the opposite. This is really unfortunate because there are a lot of good things here, however, safety is non-negotiable. Sorry. Someone who has the means to implement immediate change needs to step up, take some responsibility, stop worrying about political correctness, and help P.G.'s citizens. Please.
