As we enter a new year, various magazines publish predictions for the next 12 months. Some will predict the end of the world, major disasters, and the future of the rich and famous. Some individuals will want to know their individual future and go to psychics, tarot card readers, and palm readers. What is your future for the next 12 months? I can put on my fortune teller hat and predict the following for you:
If you read the Bible every day, you will be blessed. You don't have to start from the beginning of the Bible using an old version. You might like to start with the gospel of John in the New Testament or the Psalms in the Old Testament, using a modern version like The Message. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (II Timothy 3:16-17).
If you talk to God every day, your day will go better. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30). Unload on God. Tell him your hopes, dreams, and problems. Ask for His help and look for His answers.
If you meditate on God, His power, and His Word, you will come to a greater understanding of God in your life. "Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing" (Isaiah 40:26). God calls each of the 3 septillion stars in the universe by name. That's 3 x 1024 stars. This has been equated to about 1,000 stars to every grain of sand on Earth! So He knows what's happening in the 100 trillion cells in your body and your 100 billion brain cells. He knows what you are thinking. Do you know what God is thinking about you? Only love. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
So we can read the terrifying and interesting predictions for this year but rest assured that in reading God's Word, talking to God, and meditating on Him, we will have a wonderful year!
