To Bob Zimmer, member of Parliament, Prince George-Peace River.
I am absolutely appalled at your letter to the editor dated May 30, 2015.
As a mother, grandmother, and as a Conservative, I cannot believe what you have written.
Omar Khadr was 15 when he 'supposedly' did this killing. He was 13 when he was indoctrinated into these ideas.
There is a reasonable possibility that he did not kill Sgt. Speer.
There were no witnesses, and he was treated by his U.S. captors as 'guilty.'
Mr. Khadr has served 13 years in a foreign prison. Don't you think this is enough for a 'child' that 'supposedly killed?'
The government offers no evidence from psychiatrists or corrections officials that Mr. Khadr poses a danger. His lawyers have produced documents from corrections officials, psychiatrists and U.S. officials (including an official at Guantanamo Bay) stating he is capable of being rehabilitated.
Why is it that the Canadian government will not let Mr. Khadr get on with his life as a free man, and live in peace?
If not, I certainly will be one who rethinks who I vote for in the next election.
