In regards to the letter to the editor: Speeding on Anderson Street out of control: R.G. Gerdes
I entirely agree we need more policing in this zone before and after school. Between the speeders, the drivers parking in school zones and leaving the school turning out the wrong way at busy times before it is too late and a child is hit. The city of P.G. does send out a driver to check the school zones but I find a lot of the time they are coming at the wrong time and missing the people that are parking in the walk zone.
Two weeks ago, I sent an email to the principal of DP Todd and the principal of Heritage elementary, in regards to speeders on this street. I did receive an email that same day from the principal of DP Todd, I have not had any answer back from Heritage. I have two children in the elementary school and see a lot of the speeders first hand when I drop off and pick up my children. I have written down license plates/descriptions of vehicles I notice speeding through the zone at high speeds, many of these have an N on the back of their vehicles and do go to school at DP Todd, that is why I contacted the principal.
One of these such vehicles was driving at a high speed and passing in the school zone as I was getting into my truck. I would like to thank the principal of DP Todd for getting back to me right away on the above matter. I hope in the future we see some RCMP officers policing the zone so they can stop the speeders.
