Yesterday, I was at the Prince George Courthouse for a period of no more then 15 minutes only to have my $1,200 brand-new mountain bike stolen that was locked up no more then 15 feet from the front doors.
This was my second bike stolen in less then a year since moving to town to receive live saving cancer treatment. Not only was it my only source of transportation, but my only source of exercise and enjoyment.
When I contacted the sheriff's about the video surveillance, they informed me that there was a bike theft ring operating in the downtown core but nothing was being done about it. They then informed me to file a complaint with the RCMP so they could obtain the video footage, offering no other help or concern.
Why is there not more being done to combat this embarrassment to the city and people of Prince George? If there are bait cars, why not bikes?
I guess the message they are sending is to take matters into our own hands.
