In opposition to the Taseko mine application, Chief Russel Myers Ross admits that the mine would not be a solution to the economic problems his reserve faces with a current unemployment rate of 80 per cent.

In opposition to the Taseko mine application, Chief Russel Myers Ross admits that the mine would not be a solution to the economic problems his reserve faces with a current unemployment rate of 80 per cent.

Instead of seeking high paying mining jobs for his people, he suggests a " hybrid economy which focuses on traditional activities like hunting and fishing along with a cash economy 11 in order to

alleviate the cycle of unemployment in his community.

His assertion reminds me of the wonderful cartoon character Pogo who said " I've seen the enemy and the enemy is us."
