Yet another spring and we're happily browsing through garden centres looking at flowers and shrubs, many of which are not meant for a Prince George climate at all.
Even the proper zone two and three, if they have spent their first two or three winters growing in the Fraser Valley or further south, have a difficult time adapting.
Better to use local growers or imports from the Prairies, where the climate is more like ours.
Something to think about before you throw money into beautiful shrubbery and trees that will likely turn up dead next spring.
I have seen zone four, five and six plants in more than one garden centre.
