My name is Bruce Germyn, I was an employee at Lakeland Mills. I was working in the Lakeland sawmill on April 23, 2012 when a horrific and tragic incident happened at roughly 9:35 p.m. The sawmill exploded and burnt to the ground killing two union brothers and injuring numerous others.
I would like to take this time to say a few thank yous for help and ongoing support during and after this event unfolded.
The outpouring of support from citizens of Prince George and outlying areas is truly overwhelming from the instant this horrific event took place through to today.
The emotional, physical, and financial support of the community has given me such a lift through a tough time in my life - thank you all so much, your handshakes, hugs, kind words of support and financial support. Thank you all to the police, fire department, ambulance, doctors, specialists, the hospital staff and any professional that has been a part of my healing journey.
In one instance a young student nurse escorting me to the burn and wound unit reached out her hand as work was being done to extensive burns to my face and said sometimes it helps to hold someone's hand. I forever will remember this act of true kindness.
Next I would like to say a huge thank you to my co-workers and their families.
Your strength and courage has been a huge inspiration to me, years before this even unfolded I have referred to you as family. Thank you all so very much for continual and ongoing love and support as I recover from my brain injury and physical injuries.
I cannot say thank you enough to my wife, our children and the rest of my family, I am so blessed to be part of such an incredible family.
You are such pillars in my life before, during and after this horrific event.
If I have left any groups, organizations or people out it was not my intention. So many people have been a big part of my healing journey.
Thank you all so very much.
