Merge means MERGE, not STOP

In my profession, I am on highways and roads all day, and now I feel compelled to write in.

People - brush up on what the road signs mean. A YIELD sign is an inverted triangle - red with a white centre, while a MERGE sign is diamond shaped, yellow, with "MERGE" printed in the centre.

If you don't know what the signs mean, please read up in a driver's educational book. Here is a brief description: yield means to yield to oncoming traffic, merge means you have your own lane to drive in while you ease your way into the traffic. You do not stop at the merge sign and wait for traffic to clear before proceeding. One of the best examples of a great merge lane is at Domano Boulevard merging onto Highway 16. It is long, has great visibility, you do not need to stop and wait for traffic to clear. This lane had not been a yield since the city redid the entire intersection a year and half ago. Get with it. You are an accident waiting to happen.
