McLean was a great Canadian

We woke this morning to the news of the loss of Stuart McLean. The feeling of connectedness to Canada through listening to CBC Radio, wherever we are, in Mexico on a beach, in Prince George or Moncton, we can feel the fabric that holds us together.

We woke this morning to the news of the loss of Stuart McLean.

The feeling of connectedness to Canada through listening to CBC Radio, wherever we are, in Mexico on a beach, in Prince George or Moncton, we can feel the fabric that holds us together.

No other sinew is more tenuous or important than our alliance to each other through the media of radio and the internet.

Take a moment to ponder and reflect the importance of this thread that can be easily broken by greed and self interest.

It is only made stronger by our willingness to accept our differences as interesting parts of our humanity.

The loss of Stuart is losing a close friend, one that you could not help but laugh with as his stories unfolded. The anticipation building as he would pause to let the effect sink in. His audience gleefully jumping ahead but waiting for the inevitable outcome.

His artistry in story telling is surpassed by none.

Stuart did a great service to Canada by embracing people from small towns to big cities. His voice will continue to travel via radio and the internet.

Thank you, Stuart, for entertaining us so well and for so long.
