McBride losing only grocery store

Why has there been no coverage on the closure of the only grocery store in McBride? The store has been there for possibly 100 years. If this is their 100 year anniversary for the town, providing groceries to the small town i.e. Eddy B.C.

Why has there been no coverage on the closure of the only grocery store in McBride?

The store has been there for possibly 100 years. If this is their 100 year anniversary for the town, providing groceries to the small town i.e. Eddy B.C., delivered on the CN train - when we moved there it was I think Nelligan's owned it, then Sargent-Robin&Sait (veterans) called SRS - Sargent and Robin left and it was Freddie Sait's for years until taken over by Doug Taggart called Doug's Grocery. Oiled floors, big round block of cheese, butcher behind the counter, brown wrapping paper, books for all the customers who settled up when the pay cheque came in - all orders handwritten.

When Doug retired, it seems to me the store moved across the street and became a part of the Jim Pattison group, but I am not sure on that part having been away from McBride for many years. I do know though of the importance this store played in McBride and was a main meeting post. so sad to see this happen.

I cannot believe it has had no coverage considering the history of this store.
