Are They Stupid?
That's quite the headline grabber. I don't write letters to the editor very often, but this one is due.
I can appreciate that residents involved in what appears to them to be a "normal" flooding situation may not like the disruption to their street with the placing of gabion baskets (temporary dike).
I can appreciate that residents may want or need more information about the purpose for them. The fact is this community is in a state of local emergency due to flooding.
"They", the stupid ones, have done and are doing an outstanding, professional job.
"They" have knowledge of the technical and practical reasons for the construction of the temporary dike in its location.
"They" will continue to act as required in the best interests of the community.
And "They" deserve better respect than the outrageous headline you published.
I am not prepared to gamble with the fury of Mother Nature. And if there is someone who is willing to, well, I refer to your headline.
