Global TV reported that the border crossings during the B.C. Day weekend would be severe, so much so that the border guards would be waiving the duties and taxes normally applied in order to alleviate the long lineups. Are you kidding me? These are the shoppers who don't contribute their share to the funding of schools, hospitals, roads, bridges, ferries, etc. and now we enable them to get away with it.
I say cancel the overtime by the border guards (saving an estimated $11 million), enforce the collection of the taxes and duties and if the poor returning citizens are late for work on Tuesday morning, maybe they will reconsider what a wonderful deal they got down south.
