I am writing in the hopes to remind everyone how important it is to vote.
There are so many controversial and passionate issues for everyone - especially here in beautiful British Columbia, everything from environmental, criminal justice problems (or lack thereof), employment, education etc. just to name a few.
Take the time to read and listen to what the candidates believe in and ask them what their beliefs are about specific things, don't be afraid to ask.
Go to the all candidates meetings, answer the phone when they call for your support and instead, ask them questions. We are so lucky to live in a country where we can vote freely.
The problem is that an embarrassing amount of people just don't do it. Sadly, they are usually the biggest complainers.
If you look up what our voter turnout is for the whole province is, it would shame you. I would like to see our numbers increase in all kinds of elections, whether they are municipal, provincial or federal.
If individuals do not vote then they should not complain about anything. I am so thankful that my parents taught me from a very young age the importance of voting and I believe we as a society must stress and remind each other of this wonderful thing we have called the 'right to vote'.
