Make noise about gas prices

The recent fuel prices at the pump have sparked much discussion about price gouging and price fixing in Prince George and northern B.C. in general. Two recent newspaper articles in particular come to mind.

The recent fuel prices at the pump have sparked much discussion about price gouging and price fixing in Prince George and northern B.C. in general.

Two recent newspaper articles in particular come to mind.

The first was an article written just days after the recent price increase of fuel in our province. The general drift of this article was the shared relief of consumers when fuel prices jumped approximately ten cents per litre but after one day had settled to approximately a three cents per litre increase. You can bet your locking gas cap that the article was not published by a writer for the Prince George Citizen where the ten cent increase stuck like velcro.

The other article reported that recently criminal charges had been laid in the Province of Quebec against the Irving Oil company for allegedly price fixing in several of that province's communities. Wouldn't it be nice to know that the same type of investigation were going on right here in the north? Make some noise about this. After all, it is said that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. This is true even in Prince George where the grease may be a little more expensive.
