Make better use of taxpayer money

When is the city administration going to move into the 21st century?

Years ago when these roads were being built, the largest trucks were about five tons. Today the trucks weigh in excess of 50 tons.

The roads cannot take the weight or amount of traffic without breaking down. The pavement is much too thin to sustain this kind of traffic.

Get out of the real estate market and put this money into a thicker pavement that will not have to be rebuilt every few years.

This definitely needs to be done on all major streets where the big traffic is prominent. Though it may cost more in the short term it will save us lots in the long term. It also will mean not as many streets can be rebuilt in the year but they will last.

The line painting is a joke. There is very little pigment in the paint.

It's funny that the little white markers that tell them where to put the lines sometimes lasts for years but the line paint is gone in a few months.

I know it allows the crew to do shorter stretches before doubling back. If there is more pigment in the paint it will take a little longer to dry and some lines will get smeared by senseless drivers and we will have to live with it.

I noticed this last winter that there has been scaffolding up the outside of the downtown

coliseum for more than six months. Who is paying for this to sit there (undoubtedly on rental), without being used for most of this time?

If it is in the contractors contract he must be getting to much money to let this stand idle.

If it is the city then it is another example of a waste of taxpayers money and poor

planning.

It is time for the city administration to stop thinking about job creation and to really look at how they can better use the taxpayer's money. It does not grow on trees.
