I was surprised and very upset to read the article concerning funding cuts by the Ministry of Education for literacy programs in Prince George.
In this day and age we have finally identified the need for these types of programs that can change the lives of children and families. Unless we provide these additional supports we will return to the times when children's needs were not identified and parents were blamed, not assisted to provide better care for their families. To build a better society we must continue to provide services of this nature for children, families and others.
When will government see the value in the services these programs provide? We need a more caring and kinder society and programs of this nature will make the difference.
