Lies: and the lying liars who tell them

What's next?

Lately, we are constantly being bombarded with reminders of the broken promises and outright lies of the provincial Liberal government.

The Liberals promised not to sell BC Rail, and of course, did. Now after years of delays the corruption trial is underway and we are finally getting some answers to what went on there.

They promised to support education, but, because of the lack of funding, we've been witness to the very painful, long, drawn-out process that our and other school boards have had to go through to balance their budgets.

The Liberals were going to defend our health-care system. Well, it's a rare person indeed who doesn't know someone that's had to wait for surgery or treatment. Many others are still waiting. Most of us know someone whose finances have been ruined by having to have a loved one in care.

They promised to not bring in the HST. Another broken promise. And now the people of the province have spoken loud and clear against it. However, the governing Liberals are now using their corporate friends to fight the anti-HST initiative in a court battle that will rage for years to come.

These constant reminders of their lies should do two things for us. Firstly, they serve to keep the Liberal record of deception forefront in our minds. Secondly, they make us wonder what they are going to do next. What's the next stop on their trail of broken promises?

Will it be the break-up and sale of BC Hydro? Will they kill ICBC and bring back an unregulated auto insurance industry? Maybe they'll get rid of the regional health authorities and and create a remote super health board with the main goal of privatization.

Whatever they have up their sleeves, it would be a great show to watch if we didn't have to live with the consequences.
