Liberal campaign full of Orwellian doublespeak

George Orwell would applaud the delightful 1984 flavour of the BC Liberal election platform. Imagine a government running on a platform of debt reduction and job creation given their record on those two topics. Just a refresher: The B.C.

George Orwell would applaud the delightful 1984 flavour of the BC Liberal election platform. Imagine a government running on a platform of debt reduction and job creation given their record on those two topics. Just a refresher: The B.C. public debt, just over $34 billion when the Liberals assumed power, has more than doubled in 12 years. To put that in historical perspective, B.C. entered confederation in 1871 and it took 131 years to rack up a 34 billion dollar debt. In just 12 short years the Liberal government more than doubled that debt and they want support on the basis of that great work. In terms of job creation, the B.C. jobs plan with its $16 million public advertisement campaign has managed to lose over 34,000 private sector jobs in its short lifetime. This too is apparently proof of the Liberal abilities to create jobs, if re-elected. One can only speculate why they chose not to run on their equally dismal records on child protection or government transparency.
