Reading the top story of the Saturday edition I must comment on some of it. The violent take-down by the police certainly made the news and will be an item of controversy for some time.
I would have to agree they were pretty rough on him. But why?
I have several questions of the alleged thief.
What gives you the right to help yourself to stealing honest people's property? We worked hard to achieve the material values we earn. It is not yours. Do you think the beating you received will change your idea of making thievery a career? If it hasn't, perhaps you need many more of them. I have no sympathy for a person like you.
Another question directed at the girl who submitted the video footage and was interviewed on TV where she made her opinion known about how shocking the treatment was.
How would you feel about it if the vehicle he stole was yours?
If faced with the situation I would protect my home and possessions with violence, too. I am sick and tired of hearing and reading page after page of stories of people committing property crime over and over. You can be assured law enforcement is tired of him, too.
There will be rebuttals about how he didn't deserve the treatment he received and the police overstepped their power of enforcement. I ask every honest person to walk a mile in their shoes and have to deal with the scum they see on the street every day.
What would they consider fair treatment?
In summation, I think the alleged thief got exactly what he deserved. And even that is not enough. To quote a well used phrase; it is time the honest people in society "got their streets back" and quit looking the other way. Support the people who work to protect the honest society. Thank you.
