Congratulations to the City of Prince George for presenting a successful summer musical "Heatwave." I was fortunate to take in all or parts of four sessions. It took a lot of work from many people including numerous volunteers.
The sound for all the acts was exceptional. We are fortunate in Prince George to have at least two quality production companies that always provide musicians with the best in sound reproduction. Bill Russell and staff were superb at the Canada Games Plaza.
There were many good acts so it is somewhat unfair to single out one, although Don Amero was one of my favorites.
I had heard him a few years ago when he played at the Prince George Playhouse. I was impressed, purchased his CD and listened to it a number of times. I made a special effort to go to see Don Amero and was again impressed - a very talented musician with a wide vocal spectrum. On the way home I put the CD in the stereo. It just wasn't the same - the live performance was far superior. The CD is good quality but the comparison emphasized just how good a job the sound crew had done.
Hopefully the Cold Snap - Heat Wave will be repeated. I notice that BCLC was a sponsor of the event. Today I bought a lottery ticket - thought I would "play it forward!" After the last week of free concerts, I feel like a winner already!
