Congratulations to the school board's enlightened and courageous decision to consider changing the name of Kelly Road school.
I grew up in a racist community where indigenous people were at best ignored and where Canadian history lessons skipped over the real history of our relations to indigenous peoples.Your decision will go a long way in addressing our collective history. Racism is learned through society's example, it is also able to be rectified through society's better example.
Thank you for advancing this goal in suggesting changing the name to Shas Ti.
By the way, if this were happening at my high school when I was 16, sixty years ago, I would have been one of the uninformed/misinformed protesters.
