Letter writer didn’t check facts

Wouldn't it have been wonderful for Leonard Matte to present a single shred of evidence to back up his nasty little tirade against CBC.

Wouldn't it have been wonderful for Leonard Matte to present a single shred of evidence to back up his nasty little tirade against CBC.

Despite besmirching the network as presenting only a "pompous radical left" viewpoint, he fails to offer any specifics to back that up leaving us to wonder just what programming he is referring to.

Can it be TV shows like Dragon's Den with that flaming socialist Kevin O'Leary at the helm?

Or is it Rex Murphy's radio show Cross-Country Check-Up, which opens the lines every week to what seems like the fullest possible spectrum of expert and citizen views? Murphy, in fact, has come under fire for his support for continued tar sands exploitation, hardly a position one associates with "the left."

Oh, I know: Matte is referring to that closet Trotskyite, Amanda Lang, current senior CBC business correspondent and staunch defender of such bastions of social progress as Barrick Gold and RBC and who many expect will succeed Peter Mansbridge as lead on The National.

So just where are all those reds and pinks whose bias dominates the CBC airwaves? Matte will have do better than just fume; he must actually identify the "pompous radical" lefties and their sins, dig up and present hard facts, just like the mostly excellent journalists at CBC must do.

Meanwhile, I had been procrastinating getting one of those "We Vote CBC" lawn signs but having read this unsubstantiated polemic, I'll be heading off today to get one to display with pride.
