Letter to the editor: Leaders ruling by decree

The elite want to change the world with "mandates" or "decrees''.
14 Electric vehicle Tesla charging winter
Winter climates and cold weather decrease the range of electric vehicles but advances in battery technology and faster, more widely-distributed charging stations in north central B.C. locations is making it easier for EV owners to get to their destinations.

"We have not seen nothing yet."

An expression that is a double negative that makes it grammatically incorrect.

But the perfect expression to sum up the discourse, anger and revolt against the political elite in Canada and around the world.

The elite want to change the world with "mandates" or "decrees''. Saying something without giving out the tools, resources, direction and the skill set to implement those decrees is a recipe for disaster. The most grievous of those “decrees" is banning the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles when no realistic or viable alternative is in sight. Try driving an EV in -40 degree weather and then say no more ICE vehicles.

I was in Grande Prairie on the weekend, and was told they have EV transit buses, but oil heaters installed on board to keep the passengers from freezing, the most hypocritical abuse of the transition to EVs that I have ever heard of.

The expression that I should be using is "It is only the beginning."

The war in the Ukraine could only be the beginning.

When elites rule by decree the results of their actions can be very destructive.
