Last laugh will be on taxpayer

Another poll and Campbell is poleaxed yet again.

Another poll and Campbell is poleaxed yet again. The last poll gave Campbell a record low nine per cent approval rate and this was before the public discovered they were on the hook for $6 million plus in defence costs for criminally convicted Liberal ministerial aides.

The Liberal government has the HST millstone around its neck, convicted government officials, recall votes fast approaching and the list goes on. After this latest $6-million insult, the government has a popularity rate approximating that of extreme flatulence in a small crowded elevator. Liberal MLAs must feel as if they are tied to a railroad track and a BC Rail train is barreling down on them.

Once worshipful MLAs now realize they are an endangered species and look for a bolt hole while Campbell, worried about a palace revolt, is frantically watching for Brutus. It will be interesting to see which MLA scurries off the Island first, be it due to survivor recall or survival instinct. In either case you can bet your bottom dollar; if Campbell hasn't already gifted it to business, that they won't be departing on "The Love Boat."

In the United States the top one per cent of the population owns 42.7 per cent of all wealth, the top 10 per cent owns 72 per cent. We may not be quite there yet but the Liberal government with its HST gift, corporate tax cuts etc. seems to be doing its level best to get B.C. there.

Gordon Campbell keeps saying "it's not about me." Yes it is Mr. Campbell, don't be modest. It's all about you ignoring the wishes of the people who elected you and trusted you to do the right thing.

Taxpayers pay MLAs large salaries and pensions, enough to provide a lifestyle that the vast majority of taxpayers will never afford. In return MLAs represent big business. While voting themselves large salary and pension raises, these same MLAs brought in a "pre-minimum wage" and continue refusing to hike the minimum wage.

Unfortunately the last laugh will be on the taxpayer as well. By the time the HST is repealed the taxpayer will have lost billions more and Campbell will have ridden off with his gold-plated pension plan to be embraced by a very appreciative business sector.

I used to be a Liberal supporter but I'm cured now. Campbell healed me of that affliction.
