Thank you, Prince George!

On Sept. 5, at the lawns of city hall, Prince George celebrated Labour Day with gusto.

Based upon the food served, we estimate that throughout the day approximately 2,000 people attended and approximately 300 people participated in the march - in the rain at that!

This was Prince George's inaugural Labour Day Celebration and March which was sponsored by almost 20 unions and additional supporting organizations. We intend to have one yearly to celebrate working people and unions and all that they contribute to our economy, community and the whole social fabric that makes us Canadian. I wish to thank everyone who helped organize and all those who attended as we could not have done this without you.

From the free food to the bouncy castle, fire hall/truck tours, petting zoo, face painting, balloons, live music and games for the kids, it was quite the task and everyone who helped and participated made it successful.

Thank you on behalf of the North Central Labour Council and the Labour Day Organizing Committee.

Don Iwaskow

President, North Central Labour Council
