This letter is in response to the article on Saturday's front page.
In the past few years I have seen bigger sentences handed down for animal cruelty than for things like vehicular homicide, rape, murder. What is this world coming to? Why do these cat owners who cherish their cats so much let them prowl around all over town unprotected? When I lived downtown many mornings I would come out of my house and a cat would scramble to get off the roof of my truck leaving behind lots of scratches or crapping in and tearing apart gardens. How about a cat in heat, that's a fun night.
The article went on to say that the rest of the cats at the hotel are literally in lockdown. Isn't that the idea of having a litter box in your place? It is so that there shouldn't be any reason to let your cat outside and if you want to, put it on a leash so it stays safe and peoples property stays safe.
Also why the double standard as far as pet licences go? A cat can be just as dangerous as a dog with those claws and teeth and the fact that the city lets the cats run around willy nilly is ridiculous and then a big outcry when an idiot does something stupid.
Please keep your cats inside away from the idiots.
