Keep status quo at Masich Place

I have recently learned of the City of Prince George's plan to alter the facility at Masich Place Stadium.

As a former resident of Quesnel and member of the Prince George Track and Field Club (1997-2004), I do not believe that the plans for the facility are in the best interest of the community.

Throughout my years as a high school and university athlete, I had the opportunity to compete at many different facilities across North America. Part of the reason I had these opportunities was due to the incredible facility where I developed as a young athlete.

I was always proud to discover that my home track at Masich Place was consistently as good as or better than the majority of other facilities I competed at.

The current configuration with track-contained field events and wind block for the running and jumping events are the characteristics that are crucial to keeping it a world-class facility to train and compete. Masich Place is the epicenter of the sport of track and field in the whole northern region. Prince George and all the surrounding towns are extremely fortunate to have such a great facility.

Keep it world-class so that the youth of the North continue to have the opportunity to maximize their potential to succeed.
