Just the facts

Disappointed at the decision to complete the Site C dam? Listening to John Horgan, I realized I learned something about him. He doesn't rely on ideology. He insisted on the facts and figures about the dam's construction and considered the pragmatic consequences for British Columbians.

Before becoming premier, Horgan didn't have access to information about the dam. The B.C. Liberals only released promotions. Many noticed what was missing: environmental reviews, feasibility studies, and agreements with First Nations and locals.

The B.C. Liberals made sure right up to the election that binding contracts were signed for future work - so billions would still be owed if the project were cancelled. No matter what Horgan decided, his government would pay nearly the full cost of the project, cancelled or not.

Now how will the NDP make sense of Site C? Look to the future:

The project will provide thousands of jobs.

Most transportation will become electric in decades.

Cities full of temperature-controlled buildings means the small carbon footprint of Site C won't be wasted.
