Two Canadian Companies are vying to build The Northern Gateway and increasing the Keystone Pipeline capacity. There is a third pipeline that has been mentioned in the press and media. TransCanada would build a pipeline to move oil from Alberta to Central Canada.
Canada currently imports oil from the middle east at world prices, but we currently sell crude oil from the Tar Sands of Alberta to our neighbours to the south at below world market prices.
The world price we pay for Middle East oil, is too often used to buy arms and chemical weapons.
Many of these countries are led, run and influenced by fanatical and unstable people. These individuals think nothing about using this weaponry on their own citizens or other peoples. When they do abuse their citizens, often countries like Canada are asked to provide aid for displaced peoples in refugee camps.
I feel that we abet or aid these tin pot dictators to continue to carry out these atrocities on defensive people by supplying them with the financial means to purchase war material.
There seems to be a view by Alberta and the federal government that the Northern Gateway and Keystone are first in line to be built and have shown no interest in the TransCanada Pipeline to the east.
Its time that we, the owners of these resources, get involved. Direct our government to encourage private interests and maybe government involvement to build a pipeline and oil refinery in central Canada.
