Issues at transfer station

I'm wondering why it's being made so hard to do the responsible environmental thing. Last week I made 2 trips to the Quinn St. transfer station to drop off yard refuse and had no problems leaving my two bags of yard waste.

I'm wondering why it's being made so hard to do the responsible environmental thing. Last week I made 2 trips to the Quinn St. transfer station to drop off yard refuse and had no problems leaving my two bags of yard waste. This morning on my third trip I was told that I cannot drop my paper compost bags there. I must empty the bag and then either take the bag with me or put it in a paper bin. These bags are large double thickness paper brown bags that are sold expressly for compost material. It says in large letters on the bag BIODEGRADABLE COMPOSTABLE and yet I'm not supposed to put them in the bin. When I told the ladies I had put them in before one said well we have been told they can't but that could change again next week.

Are we trying to reduce reuse recycle or are we not? Maybe I should do like many others and just dump my yard waste in the back alley or the closest vacant lot.

Why don't we have one clear guideline and keep it?

I had this same problem last spring and at that time the excuse was because the station was just changing from the city to the regional district and it would be sorted out soon. Apparently they need another excuse and should train the people who work there so all have the same guidelines.
