Is more drugs the answer

This letter is for Evan Wood, MD, PHD director Urban Health Initiative.

This letter is for Evan Wood, MD, PHD director Urban Health Initiative. How can you claim to care about people if you don't care about the person?

Let's just say that your beloved sister, brother or fill in the blank of anyone you sincerely love is addicted to drugs. Your answer to help them is to give them more drugs? Believe me if you did have anyone you love addicted to drugs, you would fight tooth and nail to get them off drugs.

By providing them with crack pipes or needles you are enabling the drug trade. What do you think they are going to do after they get their nice new clean crack pipe or needle; suddenly have a revelation and decide not to participate in any risky behaviour?

You say in the last sentence of your letter "What is inhumane about taking a position against scientifically proven and life saving interventions?" Here is some science for you. Drugs kill people. And as for interventions, how about using the money you use for drugs and drug paraphernalia (to treat drug addicts) to actually treat these people. ie; more detox clinics and treatment facilities.

Please stop immediately perpetuating the drug trade and instead use my tax dollars to help these people, not kill them.
