It's a nice little letter to the editor about bullying towards LGBT from the religious community, June VanDerMark, but there is a deeper, darker, scarier bully towards members of the LGBT community and that bully is from other members of the LGBT community. One should feel comfortable being around people like themselves but instead is called names, backtalked, has lies spread about them and is even given death threats, it's not all that bright and sunny in the Prince George gay community, it's the ugly side of the gay community that you don't see or hear in public.
Being one who changed his name has also come with some negative changes in the workplace such as the bosses, supervisor and co-workers start to ignore you, pretend that you're invisible to them and once in a while they give you some snide remarks when nobody is around and there's nobody to talk with to deal with the offensive remarks towards you in the workplace because the boss is not interested in communicating with you.
Of course there is the general public itself. I find that there is a lot of nice people in Prince George and some not so nice, even there in public, being a First Nations two-spirited man dressing the way he wants to dress is not all right with some other First Nations who are taught at church to hate homosexuals and call them names and threaten to beat them up on the street. It's not good that religion does put out a lot of shame and hate towards homosexuals. I think if the world didn't have religion, then there wouldn't be wars, peace would be in the Middle East and there would be no hungry or homeless people in the world.
