Insensitive headline

I am writing in regard to your coverage last Saturday of the recently-announced changes to the management structure at City Hall. While it is certainly appropriate for The Citizen to report significant changes such as these, your use of a sensational headline “James drops axe on city director” along with the photograph of Ms. VanMook was incredibly insensitive. I am sure that Ms. VanMook and her family are dealing with many difficult emotions and decisions at this time and for The Citizen to cover this unfortunate event in her life in such a callous way was unkind, unnecessary and just plain mean. Ms. VanMook is a person - not just a job title. It is very unfortunate that you didn’t consider her feelings in your reporting of an event that has impacted her personally in a very significant way. I find the level of insensitivity quite disturbing.
