I find it interesting to find that a Citizen staff member is guilty of plagiarism and has been dismissed, as per your editorial days ago.
Why is that story not above the fold on page one? It certainly would be if it was a story about an RCMP member, a council member, a physician, etc.
It appears there is a definite double standard.
Allegations of RCMP misconduct are front and center without any substantive proof. But one of your own? Tucked away in an editorial. No names mentioned.
I witnessed similar cowardly conduct when you published photos of a shooting victim on page one and a lot of public criticism ensued. You backpedaled, defended, rationalized and couched it in "freedom of the press" rhetoric.
Why? Examine your standards. You should be under the same scrutiny as anyone else. Instead, you hope it will just fade away.
I do not expect this letter to be published, but I am incensed.
