I'm voting my way

Today I opened an interesting letter. In this letter I was "encouraged" as to how to cast my ballet in the upcoming municipal election. My CUPE president has decided that there are only certain candidates (listed) that should garner my vote.

Today I opened an interesting letter. In this letter I was "encouraged" as to how to cast my ballet in the upcoming municipal election.

My CUPE president has decided that there are only certain candidates (listed) that should garner my vote. Not only should I vote for this list of people, my brethren are advising that these candidates be the only ones that I vote for.

This practice is apparently called "plumping." The idea being that I may either dilute or possibly cancel my own vote if I vote for candidates that CUPE does not endorse.

Seems to me that if these engineered votes succeed, some pipers will have to be paid... if you get my drift. Hardly the kind of system that I want any part of.

Therefore, as a democratic, free thinking individual, I take offense to this letter in so many ways.

Strong arming - albeit with an innocent union mail out - will not change the fact that I will vote for the candidates that I (and not a special interest group) believe will best benefit all citizens of Prince George.

Oh yes, and I will be voting for all possible number of candidates on the slate.
