I remember when ICBC was a car insurance company owned by the people of B.C. and operated for their benefit. Such is not the case now.
ICBC has become a slush fund for government of the day. Billions are siphoned off to general revenue. This is theft and taxation without representation.
ICBC is a monopoly. It could be run by a chimpanzee. I could run it blindfolded, with a broken leg and one arm tied behind my back. Paying the COO around $500,000 per year plus outrageous benefits and bonuses for performing a rudimentary executive job is absurd.
The bureaucrats have gone wild. You have made driver's education and examination an exercise in tedium and irrelevance. Common sense is thrown out the window. It is a method of employing people who make things unnecessarily complicated. Of course we need to be checked and approved even if there is a convex passenger mirror and no need to shoulder check.
The Vicky Gabereau ads, the pay attention when driving ads, the drivers appreciation ads are an insult to my intelligence. They are also a way of rewarding government friendly advertising firms.
I am a small business. I have two vehicles. I can only drive one at a time yet must insure both full time. I am paying for government indifference, interference and mismanagement of a public resource.
Like government, it seems the prime directive at ICBC (and BC Hydro for that matter) seems to be me first.
I live and pay taxes beyond Hope.
