Hypocrisy prevails for toll whiners

In discussing tolling, Bruce Strachen maintains a fairly civilized approach to the Lower Mainland whiners who voted overwhelming NDP in the last election.

If one wants to read a polar opposite letter, one should look at the Province newspaper of Aug. 29.

Michal Quigley of Burnaby slams the B.C. Liberal Party as hypocrites, complains bitterly about the $400 million dollar Interior forest fire fighting cost, and last but not least says that "The Liberals had better start thinking as a political party instead of just advocating for the regions that voted for them."

When I compare the two letters, the real hypocrites in B. C. may not be the B.C. Liberal Party.

The film industry predominantly located in the Lower Mainland is subsidized with $400 million a year, every year, with tax credits. Anyone that says tax credits are not subsidies shows a hypocritical attitude.

Name an industry up country that has a tax credit life support system.

The hypocrisy of NIMBY's, no oil infrastructure in my back yard, but continuing to drive carbon fuel powered vehicles is ridiculous.

Taking cheap hydro generated electricity, building materials, agricultural products, rural recreational activities and a huge portion of government services, (advanced health care and educational services) then complain bitterly that the B.C. Liberal Party did not jump at every demand for additional services that may not always be available up country is hypocrisy.
