I don't like taxes any more than the next person, but I think the HST is a good idea.
HST taxes consumption, which means those who consume (and throw away) more will pay more.
HST taxes eating out, which will hopefully encourage more at-home meals, which are healthier for us both socially and physically.
HST taxes purchases, not incomes. It helps reduce the disparities in our tax system.
