Recently the Government of B.C. decided to reduce the allocation of hunting opportunities of resident hunters and transfer them to the hunting guides of B.C.

In essence, this allows non-residents and foreign hunters to buy the opportunity to hunt in B.C. at the expense of the people who live, vote and pay taxes here. While there was considerable discussion with the B.C. Wildlife Federation and the Guide Outfitters of B.C. prior to the decision being taken, the government chose to essentially ignore the voice of the resident hunters and sell our hunting opportunities.

Many people in Prince George enjoy the opportunity to hunt and fish and benefit from the quality food derived from this pursuit. The government should reconsider this decision before it is implemented as it is unfair, illogical and smacks of political patronage.

Let the taxpayers and voters at least attempt to pursue our wildlife, rather than sell the opportunity to guided, primarily non-resident hunters.
