Hear us out

We are fairly new residents of the Haldi area (Birchill Crescent) and are questioning the logistics of opening a drug and alcohol rehab centre for women at the old Haldi school. We have concerns about rezoning of the property.

We are fairly new residents of the Haldi area (Birchill Crescent) and are questioning the logistics of opening a drug and alcohol rehab centre for women at the old Haldi school.

We have concerns about rezoning of the property. We have concerns about the increased vehicle traffic on our road. We have concerns about who will be in our neighbourhood. We have concerns about what will be brought into our neighbourhood. We have concerns about our property values.

We have concerns about the facility being "in town" and on a bus route and, we have concerns about the water table for our well and the septic system.

We researched every area in Prince George for almost a year before we bought and chose this area because of the very low crime rate and the rural life style.

We chose this area because of the demographics - single family home on small acreage's. We chose the area because there is a covenant that does not allow for business or farm animals.

And now some private individuals want to change our neighbourhood! And we are angry that we heard about the sale of the property and the proposed rehab centre from a neighbour who went to a garage sale. We need to be heard and have our concerns addressed.

We believe that no one purchases a property for a large sum of money without having "all their ducks in a row," meaning the city was aware of and approved of the "proposal" some time ago. A rehab centre does not belong in a residential neighbourhood. Would you like it in yours?
