I have always been impressed and humbled with the generosity of people in Prince George. This year is no exception. I have simply been overwhelmed with the response I have received when requesting guest presenters for my Comparative Civilizations 12 class at DP Todd.
I cannot thank Dr. Mostafa Mohamed (Chair of the Prince George B.C. Muslim Association) enough. He arranged a presentation and tour of the mosque that was simply outstanding. He made sure to move his schedule around to best meet my student's needs and treated them to an unexpected and substantial pizza lunch. All of the student comments were positive. They stated they feel a great deal more informed and have a deeper understanding of Islam as a result of Dr. Mohamed's presentation.
I am extremely grateful to Dr. Mark Wessner of Westwood Mennonite Church. While he is very busy running one of the biggest churches in the city, he went out of his way to meet so that he could create a presentation to best meet our student's needs. He also generously offered an open invitation to tour his church.
I would like to say thank you to Sarah Dowling who has also volunteered to teach a two-hour introduction to meditation from a Buddhist perspective
Finally I am appreciative to David Wood (St. Andrew's United Church) who has given me so many contacts to make these presentations happen.
These people have quietly, through their knowledge and kindness, help create more compassionate and tolerate citizens of this city. I wanted to take a moment and publicly thank them for all they do.
