I have just returned from a little holiday only to discover that Prince George won the bid to host the 2015 Winter Games. Yahoo for us!
We beat Kamloops and Kelowna, who I think have better ski facilities but we must have outshone them in other areas. I will be first in line to volunteer. But, the games come with a down side.
I fear council will have a heyday raising our taxes and user fees. Well, I am saying right now that I am not paying one red cent of any increase. I will continue to pay my taxes based on my 2010 assessment.
Since I will be a member of the F.I.P. (Fixed Income Pensioner) by 2011, I won't even be able to afford a ticket for any of the venues. Right now I am just another working stiff who has been stiffed by our council for the last two years. I am sure they and their families will get ring-side seats for every event.
Yup, I'll be paying for that too!
