Giede's head in sand

Nathan Giede's article on June 12 vilifying conservatives for supporting Trudeau is short sighted and his support of the free market system displays a predictable navet typical of right wing conservatives with blinkers.

Trump is a narcissist, a thin skinned individual, a pathological liar and a vindictive human being - unqualified to be president of anything despite the deplorable vote. The conservative support of Trudeau in this unjustified slight by Trump vis-a-vis Trudeau is refreshing and admirable and the only ethical thing to do. Unlike Giede, these politicians put country above politics.

With respect to the suggestion that the free market is the only way to go, Giede should perhaps ask why in the last decades the one per cent have become wealthier while the majority of hard working middle class's standard of living has stagnated and this in a so-called free market system.

Giede needs to take his head out of the sand if he thinks our neighbour to the south doesn't subsidize their industries through various schemes. The shrill anti liberal/Trudeau rhetoric does little to advance the common cause for the advancement of Canada. Despite Trump's insulting statements and demeanour towards Trudeau and Canada, Trudeau has behaved in an exemplary fashion and has done Canada proud.

Giede's article smacks of tribalism and will only contribute to the polarization of Canadians, something that is in full view in America.
