Is there no end to what the RCMP will forgive its officers?

When's the last time someone admitted that the reason company equipment was stolen was because it was left vulnerable while he was committing a crime, only to keep his job?

And who would be stupid enough to keep such an employee on anyway?

Well it appears the RCMP is that stupid. One of its members had his force-issued BlackBerry - along with wallet and RCMP ID - stolen by a prostitute while she performed oral sex on the officer in his car.

We can only presume the BlackBerry, which was never recovered, had highly sensitive information on it. (His wallet and RCMP identification card, however, were found in a drug house.)

This piece of technology may be something a career criminal would pay a nice bit of cash for. More cash than could be gained from, say, performing fellatio on someone.

Someone, who, by the way, took an Oath of Office when sworn in as an RCMP officer.

The Oath is as follows: "I, Shyamal Ramlu (officer's name), solemnly swear that I will faithfully, diligently and impartially execute and perform the duties required of me as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and will well and truly obey and perform all lawful orders and instructions that I receive as such, without fear, favour or affection of or toward any person. So help me God."

It would seem that not only did the officer breach the Oath of Office by not obeying all lawful orders, but that he did indeed show affection to someone, although maybe not of the kind the Oath may have decreed.

But the stupidity doesn't stop there. Earlier in the night the officer had taken a ride home from a party with Operation Red Nose because he was too drunk to drive. However when he got home, he obviously felt an urge for gratification in his loins so great that he had to drive the streets of Surrey looking for a prostitute.

Unfortunately he chose one who had a history of stealing from her johns.

Const. Ramlu, who works in Langley, told investigating Mounties that he never paid the prostitute for her services... as if that makes a difference.

That's like saying you just got a bag of crack from a street corner dealer, smoked the stuff, but because you didn't pay for it you shouldn't be charged.

Not only did the officer breach the oath he took as an RCMP officer, he broke the law by soliciting the services of the hooker, whether paid or not, not to mention possibly drunkenly driving around the streets of Surrey for who knows how long trying to find someone willing to pay lip service to the badge.

But it seems the best way to avoid criminal charges these days is to join the RCMP.

Ramlu was never charged for communicating for the purpose of prostitution, nor was he charged with drunk driving, despite his admissions.

The only punishment the officer received was getting docked five days pay.

Now that should make everyone mad, including the prostitute. After all, she didn't even get paid.
