Gas prices are too high

In the past week gasoline prices jumped by 10 cents a litre. There isn't any justification for this excessive increase with a barrel of crude worth $47.30 as of Aug. 26. I haven't heard of any government tax increase.

In the past week gasoline prices jumped by 10 cents a litre.

There isn't any justification for this excessive increase with a barrel of crude worth $47.30 as of Aug. 26. I haven't heard of any government tax increase.

This increase even took place in Alberta where I was visiting.

The Canadian Petroleum Association should be called out on the carpet to explain this greedy act.

This lobby group represents this industry who have laid off 64,000 workers because of oil glut and low crude oil prices which they created.

I wrote about this problem over a year ago. At that time a barrel of crude oil was $39.70 a barrel and with comparing prices at the pump was $1.17.

Had the reduction been fairly applied, we should have been paying around 65 cents a litre.

Since then we have seen crude oil remain below $50 a barrel.

With these prices, our prices at the pumps should be no more than 80 cents a litre and that's with all federal and provincial taxes added.

This is how they treat us.

They should be ashamed of themselves.
