Re: Nathan Giede, July 4.

Although you express loyalty to Canada in your July 4 column, you rush headlong into a diatribe of misery for the plight of Canadians and our system of government. Not only that but you diss one of the U.S.'s most liked presidents. It is really none of your business, (or mine) who the Americans elect.

We are so fortunate that we can express ourselves freely, and openly, and especially for you, that you can express these views.

In times past you might have been jailed or shot for saying such unpatriotic things, and I dare say, if you were living in the U.S.... say, that's not a bad idea! Maybe that is where your heart is.

To call on the people of a foreign country "to make things difficult" for our government is bordering on treason.

If you are trying to incite anarchy and chaos, as your column indicates, you have made an excellent attempt.

I would never call on the Citizen to withdraw your comments, as much as I disagree with them, because it is important that Canadians know where the dangers lie and who would stand with us and who would treacherously deceive us.

If you truly love this country, then do something positive for ensuring its longevity.

Also, I really liked the cartoon about Jesus being stopped at the Fortress America border. It was right on!

It showed clearly the hypocrisy of what F.A. has become and it also showed the ever simmering racism that never quite goes away.

Congratulations to the cartoonist and the Citizen for printing it.

Keep up the good work.
