For taxpayers, free ride is over

So I guess the free ride is over for taxpayers. If it is, I want the politicians to stop spending like drunken sailors. It's my money they're spending, not theirs. I want value from my money, and a say in on how it's being spent.

No more over-priced city lots, art galleries or police stations. Build them if we need them, but they don't need million dollar facades. How many city crew do they need on site when they start digging a hole or patching pavement? How many warning trucks do they need when plowing snow? How about becoming more business friendly - make it easier for businesses to open and expand in the city. Economies expand on private enterprise, the public service expands to protect itself. If a local private company can supply a service cheaper and more efficiently, use them.

On our tax notices we pay a fee for road rehabilitation and for snow removal, our roads are like driving in a war zone and the snow plow came into our area twice this last winter. How can the city council justify these fees when the services are not being provided? We pay $19.00 per month for fire protection, maybe we should be looking at a volunteer system to save money. How much have we paid for travel and what economic benefit are we getting from it?
