It took me a few reads because I'd tear up. Del was very special person with a heart of gold.
This I found out early on in Grade 12 English.
I needed help with my proper use of the period, comma and paragraphing. Your father had no problem helping me where some English teachers couldn't be bothered. That kindness I've never forgotten and now when I'm reflecting back , the only memory of my English 12 was of Del Laverdure's kindness that he gave me whole-heartedly.
Your dad and I were at the opposite ends of the chart. I was always chasing anything sport and contact, where I believe your dad would be looking at finishing or starting a new book.
Your dad was an inspiration for so many and his spirit lives within you, Amy. Keep enjoying those memories, talk often about your dad, passing on his wisdom for your generations of family to come. God bless you, Amy.
